About
The concept of biomimicry, which is widely approximated by modern science, consists of the analysis of natural systems and the reproduction of its principles in solutions and becomes an outstanding contribution to society.
According to the described concept of biomimicry, our organization was established.
Our goal is to become a major educational and environmental organization in Slovenia for both land and sea. Focusing on our local Coastal-Karst region. This will be achieved through a new method of biomimicry and a survey of the biodiversity of the entire region.
Why Slovenia?
In our relatively small country, between Venice and Vienna, covering an area of 20,273 square kilometers, there are 4 geographic regions: the southeastern part of the July Alps, the northern part of the Dinarides, the western part of the Pannonian Plain and the northern part of the Adriatic Sea and the Mediterranean.
Do we need Biomimicry?
Our country is diverse, but geographically quite young. Therefore, as students, we have noticed a great biodiversity of species, which is a great source of knowledge for us. With knowledge comes responsibility, and once we have recognized the fragility of our habitat types through our studies, we have focused on the conservation of fauna, flora, and solutions inspired by nature. In doing so, we are building a database of solutions for future generations that work with the principles of nature. Which is the essence of biomimicry?

Meduze bi lahko uporabili kot ekološki filter

Meduze, ki jih je v našem morju v zadnjih letih vse več, so lahko uspešne kot ekološki filter, ki v morju lovi mikroplastiko. S tem se ukvarja nov mednarodni projekt Go Jelly, del katerega smo tudi Slovenci. Poleg morske biološke postaje Piran sodeluje še 16 partnerjev z vsega sveta, projekt pa je namenjen raziskavi splošne uporabnosti meduzne biomase. Ne le, da je primerna za čiščenje morja, uporabna je tudi v prehrani, kmetijstvu, kozmetiki in še marsikje.
